Alumnus, Matthew Lipman, world-renowned violist, returned to his alma mater on April 16, 2023 for a special performance. Lipman is an alumnus of the Crete-Monee High School String Program and The South Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra. Lipman put on a spectacular performance playing the viola and was accompanied by cellist, Emily Mantell, who is a longtime Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Principal Cellist and her daughter Sonia Mantell, who is currently a member of the Minnesota Orchestra cello section. They performed "Bach Cello Suite 3", "Wiancko American Haiku", and "Popper Requiem". All proceeds from the concert went to support Suburban Youth Symphony Programs and The Robin Lipman Memorial Scholarship Fund.
