Crete-Monee School District 201-U is excited to announce that one of their very own football players, Lynel Billups-Williams, has been presented with the Chicago Bears “High School All-Star” Player of the Week Award. This award recognizes high school football players for on-field performance, community involvement, and good sportsmanship. Lynel Billups-Williams was nominated based on his performance against Joliet Catholic Academy during week five of the regular football season.
Lynel Billups-Williams, senior wide receiver, helped lead the Crete Monee Warriors to a 48-42 upset against the Joliet Catholic Academy giving them their first defeat of the season. Lynel Billups-Williams verbally committed to Miami of Ohio and has outstanding performance with twelve catches for 256 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, along with throwing two 2-point conversion passes.
The Chicago Bears Manager of Youth Football and Community Programs, Gustavo Silva, presented Lynel Billups-Williams with this award on Monday, October 3, at the Crete-Monee game field and presented the team with a gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings. The whole team was able to enjoy dinner and celebrate this accomplishment. The Chicago Bears will also make a donation to a youth football program of Lynel Billups Williams’ choosing, which will be given to our local University Park Lions football organization. He will be honored in December at a Chicago Bears home game for his accomplishments on the field.
Crete-Monee School District 201-U’s board of education, staff, students, and community are proud of Lynel Billups-Williams for being presented with this high honor award. Congratulations!
