Crete-Monee School District 201-U hosted its annual New Hire Orientation on August 10 and 11, welcoming 60 new staff members. The two-day event began Monday with breakfast, warm welcomes, and introductions from district leadership, who emphasized the district’s commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Superintendent Dr. Kara Coglianese encouraged the new educators, sharing, “This is my 38th year in education—and my last. We hope you enjoy a long and fulfilling career here, all the way to retirement. Crete-Monee is a great place to work, with a welcoming, family-friendly environment.”
An icebreaker activity gave new staff an opportunity to connect with colleagues they will be working alongside in their buildings. Each table worked together to discover things they had in common—from having pets and enjoying a Starbucks coffee to having sisters and sharing a love of fall. As conversations grew, groups quickly found common interests and connections, helping build new relationships and a strong sense of community.
The orientation was designed to equip new hires with the essential tools, resources, and knowledge needed to begin their roles with confidence and clarity. Highlights included:
Technology Set-Up and Training: New hires received guidance on configuring their devices, accessing the district network and new staff intranet, and using key software.
Mastering Google Workspace: Staff learned how to effectively use Google Drive, Google Classroom, and other essential tools for communication and collaboration.
Navigating Business and Payroll: New hires were introduced to the payroll platform, including how to access pay stubs and update personal information.
Department of Personnel & Culture: Staff met the team and learned about benefits, time-off policies, retirement options, continuing education opportunities, and the district’s pay scale.
Office of Teaching and Learning: New hires received an overview of the Strategic Plan, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), assessments, ELL, MTSS, and Special Education.
This year, CM 201-U is proud to welcome 60 new hires while maintaining a 95% staff retention rate. Our newest team members include educators and professionals serving across the district in a variety of roles:

- 28 classified staff
- 2 administrators
