Dear Families, Community Members and Staff,
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. In light of recent reports of gun violence in the news and, at times, within our own community, I want to acknowledge the concerns many of us share. While we are fortunate to have strong safety measures in place, we believe that the best way to ensure safety is through partnership and vigilance.
Our schools are safe, but maintaining that safety requires all of us to work together. If you see or hear anything that may pose a threat to our students or staff, please report it immediately to school officials or law enforcement. It’s always better to act on a concern, even if it seems small, than to regret not acting.
We also encourage you to talk with your children about the seriousness of making threats, even if intended as a joke. Words matter, and such actions can lead to serious consequences for the safety and well-being of others. It is important that our students understand how serious this behavior is.
We are a united community, and by supporting each other, we can foster an environment where everyone feels safe and can reach their full potential. Thank you for your continued partnership in making our schools a place of belonging, safety, and learning.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kara Coglianese
Superintendent
