The Crete-Monee Sportsplex has earned national recognition as a Facility of the Year award finalist from the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), recognizing the outstanding athletic facility at Crete-Monee High School.
The Sportsplex was selected as a finalist in the Field Facilities, Multi-Field Facility category as part of the ASBA’s annual awards program. The program recognizes exceptional sports facilities and highlights outstanding examples of athletic facility design and construction nationwide.
“We are incredibly proud to see the Crete-Monee Sportsplex recognized on a national level,” said Superintendent Dr. Kara Coglianese. “This facility represents a tremendous investment in our students, athletes, and the greater community.”
The Sportsplex was one of many projects submitted for consideration this year, making the recognition a significant achievement for Crete-Monee School District 201-U and project contractor Byrne & Jones. The top three finishers in the category will be announced and presented with special plaques during the ASBA annual conference closing dinner on Friday, Dec. 4, 2026.
The Sportsplex will also be featured on the ASBA awards wall and displayed on a screen throughout the conference, giving the Sportsplex national exposure among sports facility professionals from across the country.
“This recognition adds to the growing list of accomplishments for the Sportsplex, which provides students and athletes with expanded opportunities for football, flag football, soccer, baseball, softball, track and field, and activities,” said Jason Okrasinski, Assistant Superintendent of Business & Operations. “The facility also serves as a venue for IHSA conference, regional, and sectional events. I am humbled and honored to lead this project for the district and member communities.”
The Crete-Monee Sportsplex is another example of the district’s commitment to providing students with exceptional opportunities to learn, compete, and grow while creating spaces that strengthen our entire community.
