On September 20, 2024, Crete-Monee celebrated a triumphant Homecoming football game, defeating Thornwood Thunderbirds. The atmosphere was vibrant, with an enthusiastic student section rallying behind the Warriors. Alumni gathered in a VIP tent, engaging with an alumni table that showcased brochures for the online alumni community, shared heartwarming alumni stories, and offered T-shirts for sale.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Warrior Boosters sold a variety of Crete-Monee apparel and delicious food from a food truck trailer, ensuring that everyone was well-fed and decked out in school spirit. The cheerleaders kept the crowd energized, while the halftime show featured a lively performance by the marching band and the introduction of the Homecoming Court, enhancing the celebration.
Superintendent Dr. Kara Coglianese proudly highlighted the significance of the homecoming game in bringing the community together, stating, "It’s wonderful to witness our alumni, staff, students, and the community unite in support and showcase their spirit.”
Quarterback Derrin Couch was the standout player of the night, connecting with Dorian Patterson for an impressive four touchdowns. Couch finished the game with a remarkable 15 completions on 21 attempts for 397 yards and six touchdowns, earning him the Daily Southtown Player of the Week title. Patterson also shined with nine receptions for 224 yards and four touchdowns, making for an unforgettable
performance.
With this victory, the Warriors improved their season record to 2-2. The energy and camaraderie displayed during this homecoming celebration highlighted the Crete-Monee community's spirit.
