We are proud to announce that Crete-Monee High School has been recognized with a high national ranking in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list for the 2025-26 school year.

The rankings, released on August 19, place Crete-Monee in the top 40% of high schools nationwide, earning the distinction of a U.S. News Best High School and eligibility to display the official 2025-26 Best High Schools award badge. CMHS is ranked 143rd in Illinois and 3,921st nationally. Schools are evaluated based on state-required tests, graduation rates, and college readiness.

“This recognition reflects the hard work of our students, staff, and families in building a strong academic community focused on opportunity and achievement,” said Superintendent Dr. Kara Coglianese. “This is a tremendous point of pride for our entire school community.”

At CMHS, students have access to rigorous academic opportunities, including honors, dual-credit courses, and 23 Advanced Placement offerings. The school’s AP participation rate is 47 percent, reflecting a strong commitment to preparing students for success after graduation.

CMHS also offers an Early College Initiative Program that helps seniors get a head start on college coursework. There’s also an Educational Pathway Program, which provides internships and real-world experience for students pursuing careers in education.

“I am proud to serve as principal at Crete-Monee High School and to see how we continue to expand opportunities and programs that prepare our students for success in whichever path they choose after graduation,” said CMHS Principal Lamont Holifield.

CMHS continues to play a vital role in supporting student achievement and preparing learners for the future. Among the class of 2025, 70 percent enrolled in college, 3 percent joined the military, 17 percent entered the workforce, and 10 percent pursued vocational or trade programs. The school also celebrated a 94 percent graduation rate, and its graduates were awarded an impressive $1,860,250 in accepted scholarships.
