As the new school year begins, the Crete-Monee School District 201-U is placing a strong focus on the importance of student attendance with the launch of its Attendance Matters Campaign.

The initiative, led by the district’s Truancy Department, emphasizes the critical role consistent attendance plays in helping students thrive academically, socially, and personally. The campaign carries a clear message: When students show up, they grow.

As part of the effort, the district’s Student Attendance Committee will host an Attendance Matters Tour, visiting each school to encourage students and celebrate outstanding attendance. The goal is to send a unified message across all schools that every single day of attendance makes a difference.

Staff members showed their support by wearing Attendance Matters shirts on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and will continue to do so on the first Friday of every month. This visual show of unity will serve as a reminder to students that their presence is valued by their teachers, their peers, and the entire community.

“Attendance is more than just being in class—it’s about giving our students the best opportunity to succeed,” said District Truancy Officer Eric Green. “We are committed to making attendance a shared priority across the community.”

For more details on the campaign, families are encouraged to review the Attendance Matters flyer distributed by the district.
