Heroes Work Here, Too!
“Anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero to me.”
Fred Rogers, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood
Dear Teaching Staff --
This week is a time to take a step back and reflect. You have been given the herculean task of working remotely to create engaging lessons, all while staying emotionally connected with your students. We fully recognize and appreciate the immense challenges of remaining consistently positive in this unprecedented environment.
Who could have imagined these would be the defining moments of the 2019-2020 school year? Nevertheless, you have risen to this challenge and are making a difference that will last a lifetime.
You are a Superhero!
Though . . .
your costume is not a flashy cape with shimmering metallic leotards. Instead, it is a neatly pressed button-down shirt on top, along with mismatched pajama pants and slippers on the bottom – as you greet your students for the Google Hangouts meeting.
Though . . .
an identity-concealing mask is replaced by a homemade mask that you wear to the grocery store to shop for your family, in the little extra time you have – with appropriate social distancing, of course.
Though . . .
glistening Superhero gloves are replaced by clear plastic latex gloves that you wear to avoid touching that grocery cart.
Though . . .
your superhero costume is indeed not the type of costume that any of us would have previously dreamed of wearing to perform daily class instruction. Nevertheless, it is the official uniform of a remote Teacher. You are a Superhero that touches lives, perseveres through adversity, and provides strength through encouragement.
Thank you for being a Superhero to our students! Never forget how important you are and how much you are appreciated.
To all of our CM 201-U Superheroes,
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
