Crete-Monee School District 201-U held a special board meeting on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, where new members and current members were sworn into office. Former President Nelson Albrecht administered the
oath of office to newly elected members Jamie Zite-Stumbris (District 5) and
Alejandro Gallegos (District 4) and re- elected members William J. Sawallisch Jr. (District 1) and Maurice Brown (District 2).
Elected board member Jamie Zite-Stumbris has been a resident in Crete for 15 years and her son currently attends school within the school district. She currently works at the Chicago Zoological Society as a Sr. Writer and Guest Engagement Specialist and
previously worked in domestic violence prevention. She holds a Master’s of Arts Degree
in speech communications and a Bachelor’s Degree in communications from Northern
Illinois University. Jamie states, “I have an unwavering desire to ensure all of our
students receive an excellent education in a safe and welcoming environment.”
Elected board member Alejandro “Alex” Gallegos is a dedicated union member and
proud parent with two children in the school district. His spouse is a current Spanish
Teacher at the Crete-Monee Middle School. He is a member of the Bilingual Parent
Advisory Committee for CMSD 201-U and is committed to represent the interests and
needs of the growing bilingual community in the district.
Outgoing board members Sandra Walters and Jeanine Galbraith were recognized
for their service on April 18, 2023 at their last board meeting. Superintendent Dr.
Kara Coglianese and fellow board members wished them well and thanked them for
the impact they made during their time as board members.
Re-elected member, Maurice Brown was appointed to president, respectively. Dr.
Todd C. Hall was appointed to vice president, respectively and Cheryl Roop was
appointed to secretary, respectively.
