CM 201-U Officially Launches 2024-2028 Strategic Plan
Plan will guide district through a new mission, vision, core values, and strategic priorities
Crete-Monee School District 201-U has launched its 2024-2028 strategic plan, designed to guide the district’s priorities and vision for the future.
Building on the successes of the previous strategic plan, which achieved six key goals and strategies, the new plan will focus on critical areas and initiatives ranging from academics to community engagement.
The development of the 2024-2028 strategic plan was a collaborative effort between the Board of Education, the Strategic Planning Workgroup, and community members. The plan was shaped by the community’s perceptions, expectations, and visions through a series of four productive Strategic Plan Workgroup meetings held in the spring of 2024.
The new strategic plan is data-driven and outlines specific initiatives and goals to be achieved over the next four years. It will serve as a roadmap for fulfilling the district’s new mission and vision statements: “Engage and empower our students to positively impact their community and future” and “Thriving communities through inclusivity, collaboration, and academic excellence.”
"Launching this strategic plan marks an exciting new chapter for Crete-Monee schools," said Dr. Kara Coglianese, Superintendent. "I am eager to collaborate with our district leaders, community members, and students to bring this plan to life. We are grateful to the members of the Strategic Planning Workgroup—comprising parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and community members—whose dedication and countless hours have shaped this comprehensive roadmap for our future."
The district’s new core values emphasize a commitment to shared responsibility and success through Accountability. Collaboration highlights the importance of working together towards shared goals with input from all stakeholders. Equity ensures every student feels seen and achieves a sense of belonging within the school community. Innovation focuses on creating new strategies to prepare for a changing world. Integrity is about doing the right thing regardless of the consequences, even when unobserved. Lastly, Respect involves treating everyone with kindness and valuing their uniqueness.
The 2024-2028 strategic plan also outlines six new strategic priorities: Enhance Student and Staff Well-being, Strengthen Family and Community Engagement, Ensure Instructional Quality and Effectiveness, Expand Student Programs and Services, and Optimize Funding and Safe-guard Fiscal Responsibility and Stewardship.
Each priority includes several goals, such as supporting staff with resources for physical, mental, financial, and intellectual health; implementing robust Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS); offering differentiated professional development; raising awareness of local vocational opportunities; developing community ambassadors and advocates; offering specialized services for advanced learners, English learners, and students with disabilities; and providing transparent fund allocation.
The district will track its progress on the strategic plan using data from key strategic indicators based on how the district engages, empowers, and impacts. This includes content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, attendance, behavior, graduation rates, operations/sustainability, and staff retention. This data will include quarterly attendance reports, an annual financial report, and the Illinois Report Card for public schools.
Crete-Monee School District 201-U is committed to keeping the community informed about its progress with the strategic plan. For updates, please visit our strategic plan dashboard set to launch later this fall at https://www.cm201u.org/strategicplan.
