University Park resident Brenda K. Mitchell is sworn in as new member of the CM Board of Education
Please join District 201-U as we welcome our newly appointed board member Brenda K. Mitchell!
Mrs. Mitchell was sworn in at the September 17, 2019 board meeting. She fills the seat vacated by former board member Dr. Nakia Hall (Sub-district 3) who resigned at the August school board meeting. Board member Mitchell comes to the school board with a history of service to her community. She has formerly served as chair of the Crete-Monee Charter School Partnership with Governors State University, chair of the Community Development Commission, and village trustee. She has over 25 years experience in human resource management and holds an MBA from Olivet Nazarene University.
"I want to also thank this board and the superintendent for all of the work that has been done in bringing about what we now call the Strategic Plan . . . and identifying what is very dear to my heart, which is respect, equity and inclusion," she added.
"Brenda Mitchell has a distinguished record of community service and will be a strong, independent voice for her constituents. I'm confident she will play an important role in maintaining the positive vision forward the district and board have worked so hard to achieve," Board President Albrecht said.
Mrs. Mitchell was joined at the board meeting by her husband, Kenneth, of 45 years, children and grandchildren.
