The CM 201-U Board of Education participated in an Equity and Cultural Sensitivity training on June 22, 2019. The session, facilitated by Mr. Troy Cicero of MulticultuReal Communications, Inc., dealt with equity, implicit and explicit bias, and use of effective communication strategies.
“I thought the training was great,” said Board President Nelson Albrecht. “It gave us an opportunity to really get to know each other better and discuss important issues surrounding equity, race, and the cultural sensitivity issues facing our community and district. I look forward to subsequent training and putting into action the information we have learned,” he added.
Supt. Coglianese says that she is also excited to see the Board taking the lead on this important issue. “The board has shown leadership that I think our entire school community can be proud of. Their commitment toward achieving equity and working together productively for a bright new future for our students is inspiring,” she added.
The Board is scheduled to receive additional training this fall.
