Demolition Project

DemolitionFor many in our school community, the recent demolition of the Dome represents the end of an era and a bright new beginning.

The nearly 55-year-old facility was demolished this month as a part of the District's Short-Term Facilities Plan. The aging edifice and Sixth Grade Center, which was built in 1953, were decommissioned after an independent Facilities Advisory Committee determined the buildings were inoperable and too expensive for renovation or repair.

"While we celebrate the special memories these buildings represent for so many in our District, we are equally excited to see our Strategic Plan in action," said Dr. Kara Coglianese, superintendent. "This demolition helped us to meet Goal #5 of the District's Strategic Plan, which speaks to our school board's commitment to providing our students with equitable, safe, and well-maintained facilities," Dr. Coglianese added.
