Balmoral Notice 11-6-2018

Good evening CM 201-U Families,

This is Dr. Kara Coglianese, Interim Superintendent of Schools. As some of you may know, Balmoral Elementary was closed today (11/6/18) due to the loss of water to the building as a result of a broken pump in the school’s well.

An overnight assessment by an independent contractor has determined that the entire main pump will need to be replaced. This process is expected to take several days, as contractors work double-shifts to remove the old pump and install the new. After that, the entire system must be flushed and chlorinated, per Illinois Department of Public Health requirements.

In the meantime, the administration has decided to utilize several district school buildings to serve as alternative instructional sites for Balmoral students for the remainder of this week. In an effort to maintain a seamless transition for our families, Balmoral students will be picked up at their normal time and dropped off at Balmoral School in the morning, where their teachers will check for attendance and accompany them on buses to their designated sites.

At the end of the day, Balmoral students will be picked up 30 minutes earlier and transported back to the school, where they can be picked up or ride home on their regular bus route.

We appreciate your patience and the support of our entire school community as we work together to minimize the disruption to our students’ learning. We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available. Thank you.
