We are Building Circles at CMHS!
We are moving from a punitive mindset to an approach that utilizes the components of Restorative Justice to empower our students and staff to make connections, reconnect, and understand core values by creating a safe place for all. This “safe place” within the Circle is where respect and responsibility are learned, shared, valued and will help to strengthen bonds for the student body and staff within these walls and into the community. This structured process of communication gives all a voice and encourages each participant to step in the direction of their best self.
Students aren't the
only ones who use circles to build community. Our teachers, administrators, and staff also use circles as a way to get to know one another, build relationships, and develop a sense of belonging amongst themselves.
