Congratulations to the Business Professionals of America participants on their stellar performance at the South Suburban Area Conference held last week at South Suburban College and DeVry University. Deja Roberts - 1st place in Economic Research Team, and 3rd place in Medical Office Procedures; Julianna Cox - 1st place in Economic Research Team, 1st place in Business Law & Ethics, and 4th place in Marketing, Management and Human Resources Open; Micah Wooden - 1st place in Economic Research Team and 1st place in Advanced Interview Skills; Kayla Gordon - 2nd place in Presentation Management Team and 3rd place in Graphic Design Promotion; Terrell Newsom - 1st place in Entrepreneurship and 2nd place in Presentation Management Team; Juarwon Craighead - 2nd place in Presentation Management Team; Seth McGill - 2nd place in Presentation Management Team; Shawn Caffey - 2nd place in Video Production Team and 4th place in Entrepreneurship; Jerrnea Thompson - 2nd place in Video Production Team and 3rd place in Entrepreneurship; Joseph Wooden - 2nd place in Video Production Team and 2nd place in Entrepreneurship; Mark Romando - 1st place in Network Administration using Microsoft. Let's cheer these students on as they compete March 1st in the State round.
There will be a volleyball open gym today, Friday, Jan. 19th from 6-8 pm. All students interested must find a ride. There will be no activity bus. If you have any questions see Mr. Blackwood in room A212.
GUIDANCE/SIGN UP/REGISTER/TRY OUT:
KACC applications are due in Guidance by Friday, January 26 and will not be accepted after that time. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis and acceptance into your selected program is not guaranteed due to space.
Juniors and Seniors can sign up for the following college visits in the Guidance office. Juniors are allowed 4 per semester and Seniors are allowed 2. You must write your 1st hour room number in order to receive a pass: Jan. 31st, Purdue University Northwest at 8:30 a.m.; Feb. 7th, Dominican University at 9:00 a.m.; February 15th, NAVY at 7:30 a.m.
Warrior-Guard will host their next workshop on February 24th. Coach "D" of the Dancing Dolls will be our instructor for the day. Also, Anyone who would like to enter a team in the competition on February 25th must register quickly. Again, All are welcome to participate in either event. Please see the posters around the school for registration & fee information.
Breakfast with Books is back! The first Breakfast with Books of 2018 will be on Wednesday, January 24th. Please join us in the Media Center, at 7am before school. Any interested students and staff are welcome to bring their own book or select one once they arrive. Enjoy some leisure reading time with a doughnut and juice for all participants. See you there!
Art Club members: we will be meeting after school this Monday, January 22nd.
The Winter Pep Rally is Friday, January 26th. We are looking for student participants for the three point shoot-out and the dance-off contest. If you are interested and you are not on LOP please sign up in the front office by Wednesday, January 24th. Any questions please see Mrs. Valerio.
Attention Students! It's that time of year to gear up for Crete-Monee's 2nd Relay for Life. Relay for Life will take place Friday, May 18, 2018. If you have to stamina to stay up all night to raise money for the American Cancer Society; please stop by the Relay for Life Table all next week during your lunch to get more information and most importantly sign up a team.
Do you love to sing, dance, write poetry, or act? Then come audition for the Black History Month program taking place on Feb. 8. Prepare a song, dance, poem or spoken word piece that goes with the theme “Remember the Time” Celebrating Black Achievement in Arts and Entertainment. Students can audition alone or with a group. Letters with more information can be picked up from English teachers or the Main office. Audition forms are due Monday, Jan. 22 to Ms. Godbout in B100. Auditions will be after school Thursday, Jan. 25 in room C204.
Attention CMHS: Student Government is proud to present Winter Wonderland 2018 Spirit Week. Winter Spirit Week will take place Mon., Jan. 22nd to Fri., Jan. 26th, with the Turn-A-Bout Dance, Sat., Jan. 27th. Your Winter Wonderland Spirit Days are: Mon.,–Super-Heros vs. Villians; Tues., Grandparents Day; Wed., Celebrity Day; Thurs., Throwback Day; Fri., Spirit Day.
Attention Crete-Monee: Turn-A-Bout 2018, Winter Wonderland, will take place Sat., Jan. 27th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased during your lunch starting today to Thurs., Jan. 25th. This is a semi-formal affair and only open to CMHS Students. Permission slips are available in the Main Office, Room C203 and Room B211.
Attention Sophomores and Freshmen: do you want to be in the running for Turn-A-Bout Court? At this year’s Turn-A-Bout Dance, we will be crowning a sophomore guy and girl Turn-A-Bout King and Queen and a freshman guy and girl Prince and Princess. If you are interested in running, please stop by and see Ms. Ross in Room C203. The top five time and date stamped completed applications turned into Ms. Ross before or by the due date will determine this year's Turn-A-Bout Court. Good Luck.
