Going The Distance!
Coretta Scott King Magnet School and Crete-Monee Middle School joined forces this year for the 2nd Annual Family Fitness 5K. On the morning of March 31, over 250 students, staff, and family members gathered at the starting line to run or walk the 3.1 miles to the finish line. Trophies were awarded to the winning runners in the Adult and Student groups. Brooke Nack finished with the best adult time and John Erwin led the student runners. "It was an amazing sight to see all of our families walking up Blackhawk Drive in their matching t-shirts. This event was a great way to exercise with families and friends," said Erin DeBartolo, Principal of Coretta Scott King Magnet School.
The schools would like to extend special thanks to the Crete-Monee Education Foundation. The Foundation donated $1,000 towards the event which helped to purchase t-shirts for all participants. Also, special thanks to all of the sponsors who donated amazing raffle prizes. The 3rd Annual 5K is already in the works for next year and the goal is for at least 400 participants! Dust off your running or walking shoes and plan to be with us!
