CMMS Students Participate in Fine Arts Fest
This April, Crete-Monee Middle School students had the privilege of participating in the South Suburban Junior High School Association (SSJHSA) 2012 Fine Arts Festival at Washington-McKinley School in Chicago Heights. Students gathered from 12 south suburban middle schools at the annual art exhibit to represent their school in a display of unique visual art pieces.
"I believe that the involvement of the SSJHSA Fine Arts Festival allows our CMMS students an opportunity to participate in an art exhibition among their peers, boosts self-esteem, involvement of parents, and expresses their achievement," said Linda Johnson, 7
th Grade Art Instructor.
The Fine Arts consist of 15 pieces of artwork that are selected from each school by their art instructors to participate in the Art Show. The judges use a provided rubric to select 1
st, 2
nd, and 3
rd place placements for each school. The criteria for each winner is based on that rubric.
