Crete-Monee School District 201-U would like to extend an invitation to our staff, parents, student, and community members to serve on the 2012-2013 District Wellness Committee. The committee will meet two times during the school year, with the first meeting to be scheduled in the fall of 2012 and the second in the spring of 2013.
The committee will be comprised of eight to ten representatives from district administration, faculty, nursing, physical education, food service, school principals, students, and community members.
The District Wellness Policy, adopted March 19, 2012, included five major components: Goals for Nutrition Education and Nutrition Promotion, Goals for Physical Activity, Nutrition Guidelines for Foods Available in Schools during the School Day, Guidelines for Reimbursable School Meals and Monitoring.
While the adopted Wellness Policy incorporates rationale for policies and resources for implementation, it will be a major goal of the District Wellness Committee to help each school implement programs to promote student wellness, reduce childhood obesity and assure that school nutrition guidelines meet the minimum federal school meal standards.
An inaugural meeting of the 2012-2013 District Wellness Committee will be held in May of this school year.
If you are interested in being a member of the District Wellness Committee or you know of a staff member, parent or student who would like to serve, please contact Beth Proctor, Director of Food Service, at (708) 367-8207 or at e-mail
by Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Together we can work to ensure a healthier tomorrow for our students.
