The staff and students at Talala Elementary have spent the first few weeks reviewing procedures and expectations as they jump into their school year. Mrs. Sylvester's third grade class has talked about kindness and how important it is to treat others with respect. The students participated in a small group activity where they squeezed all the toothpaste out of the tube. They were then asked to put it all back in. As hard as they tried, this was not something that could be done. The students then discussed how this is similar to the words that come out of our mouth, especially when directed towards others. If we say something unkind, we can't take it back. The focus of the lesson was on kindness and thinking about how your words might affect others. What a great start to the year!
