Crete-Monee High School is excited to offer Ignition, an innovative transition program for freshmen. The program is facilitated by the junior and senior students in our Leadership Seminar classes. The Ignition program has been proven effective across the country, decreasing dropouts and habitual truancy, and increasing school spirit. The Crete-Monee High School administration hopes that Ignition will help boost student achievement and involvement in school organizations as well as help the incoming class of freshmen transition successfully to high school.
The Ignition program begins with an interactive orientation day for the Freshmen class that includes an outdoor challenge course and a series of workshops led by upperclassmen. Throughout the school year, a team of over 50 junior and senior Crete-Monee students will serve as mentors for the freshmen class. The student mentors will conduct monthly workshops covering relevant topics for ninth grade students such as making healthy choices and succeeding in high school.
