CMMS science teacher receives MSI Distinguished Teacher Award from the Museum of Science & Industry

Crete-Monee School District 201-U is committed to providing support for our students and their families who are eligible for McKinney Vento services. All McKinney Vento children and youth are legally entitled to a free and equal public education.

McKinney Vento services provided by District 201-U include:

  • providing access to resources necessary to obtain a successful education
  • providing information to ensure that your child's educational rights are observed
  • providing outreach to ensure that all school aged and pre-school aged children not enrolled in school are promptly enrolled in the proper school
  • school placement with a focus on maintaining placement in the child's school of origin
  • obtaining school records, immunizations, and birth certificates
  • transportation, free meal enrollment, supplies/clothing, and tutoring
  • provides referrals to health, medical, and dental providers
  • providing information and linkage to community resources such as shelters, food pantries, etc.
  • providing information to connect students and families to educational and district resources
  • providing a fair process for resolving disputes between the Local Education Agency and any McKinney Vento child, youth, or parent in accordance with applicable law and as set forth in the Student Dispute Procedures
  • serving as a liaison between schools, parents, and community agencies to best meet the needs of children and youth
  • advocacy in all matters related to a child's McKinney Vento status
