Prior to becoming the principal at Crete Elementary I was the assistant principal at Balmoral Elementary. My past teaching experiences include teaching third grade at Crete Elementary for five years. I also have teaching experience at first and second grade in the Homewood School District. I have spent approximately 21 years in the field of education.
My husband and I love to travel. We have most recently completed an Alaskan cruise. Cruises have been our vacation of choice over the last two years. We also own a Harley Davidson motorcycle, and enjoy riding when the weather permits. I enjoy the western part of the United States. It is my dream to live in a geographical area that is both mountainous and near the water someday.
I am first and foremost a role model.
I lead by example, paying close attention to the needs of the entire school community.
Our school environment should always be a place where students feel safe and respected, and have value for learning.
It takes the sum of all the parts to create an effective school.
Fostering a sense of teamwork among all staff members through encouragement to help in collaborative decision making is crucial to the success of the school.
Building a sense of trust among all staff members is essential for an effective school.
There is no such thing as a “bad” child, but there is such a thing as a child who makes “bad” choices. Our discipline system should be proactive, and help children to work at improving their behavior.
We are a “community of learners,” and all of our efforts and actions should help us to instill this environment within our school.
