Welcome to Crete Elementary! My name is Mrs. Nicole Persic and I am currently a social worker at Crete Elementary. In 2002, I received my Bachelors in Psychology from Indiana University and in 2006, I earned my Masters in Social Work from Indiana University Northwest. I have worked with many different age groups and populations, but I have found working with young children in a school setting to be the most rewarding. I have worked in the Crete-Monee School District since 2006. It is an honor to work with such a hard working staff and be around such wonderful students each day! In my free time outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. We enjoy going on walks, fishing and spending time outdoors together.
In my role as social worker at Crete Elementary I provide many different services, primarily to help support student behavior or functioning that interferes with learning. I provide ongoing services for students who have Individualized Education Plans and 504 Plans. I also support students through our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program by running Social Academic and Instructional Groups for children who may be in need of developing problem solving skills, social skills, or academic behavior skills. Intervention is also given to assist students who are experiencing a crisis in which their mental health and well-being is at risk. I also act as a liaison between the school community and outside agencies and have resources available to parents who may require additional support in the home environment.
If you feel your child would benefit from additional support to assist with functioning or behavior in the school environment, or if you need additional community resources, please call me at 708-367-8476.
