Welcome Talala Families!
My name is Angela Collins, and I am excited about supporting our Tigers in math! I worked four years as a Staff Accountant with the Chicago Tribune Company. I returned to school to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching. My journey in education began ten years ago where I found pleasure in coaching students in Business Education and Entrepreneurship at Thornwood High School in South Holland, IL. While there, I worked with the Principal of Freshman Academy as the Dean of Students - carrying out the school’s academic and behavior programs. The last five years, I spent with a charter network, grades Kindergarten through 8th where I taught math, developed the Technology curriculum, served as the Assessment Coordinator, as well as I facilitated the implementation of the Response to Intervention (RTI) Model.
I am passionate about teaching and I love learning! Currently, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central State University. After recognizing my passion to teach, I returned to school to obtain a Master in Educational Leadership and Administration; afterwards, a Master in Curriculum & Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University. I am pursing my Doctorate in Education & Leadership at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL.
My goal is to increase our overall academic performance in math on state mandated test. I believe that our children are capable of accomplishing this, and many things when given adequate strategies, opportunities, and support. I feel honored to share this journey with Talala and I look forward to a stellar year!
