My name is Michelle Rivero and I teach English at Crete-Monee High School. I have been teaching since 2010; I have been at Crete Monee High School since 2016. I attended Eastern Illinois State University and then transferred to Governor’s State University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in English and a Secondary Education endorsement. I lived in Crete for 20 years and feel a strong connection with the community and the students.
My goal is to teach students to be independent learners and critical thinkers who will be successful in both their education and life. I have high expectations and believe that all students want to learn, given the skills, encouragement, opportunity and support. Educating students on how to communicate effectively, both verbally and through writing is a valuable life skill I teach in my classroom. My classroom is both engaging and academically challenging for all my students.
