I am the new Elementary Music teacher for Crete-Monee School District 201-U. It is with great pleasure that I take on the fun and exciting task of bringing music back into the school day for all of our students! I am an alumni of Eastern Illinois University, where I studied Music Education with an instrumental concentration. During my time here I received instruction in the playing of many of the traditional instruments seen in a band or general music classroom. My primary instrument during college was the tuba. Additionally, I have proficient experience with a guitar, which I use constantly throughout my lessons and activities.
During music class your students will get a chance to play and experiment on many of the different percussion instruments as we learn about many different aspects of music like basic structure, instrument families, our different voices, and ways to move and react to music. My philosophy and mission as it regards to music education is to foster citizenship among students as well as developing creativity, and using music as a form of expression. It is my belief that all of our students possess creative and expressive talent in music or some other outlet. Therefore, it is my goal to reach all students and encourage them to embrace their creativity through music.
