Dear Parents/Guardians and Families:
Welcome back. I hope your summer was exciting and you are ready to begin the new school year. After having the summer off, I am definitely ready to get back into the swing of things and I am sure your children are as well. This is my third year here at Monee Education Center (MEC), but it is my fifth year in the C-M 201U district, sixth year teaching, and thirteenth year in the education field. I taught at Crete-Monee High School (CMHS) for two years, before coming to MEC. I have coached varsity football for the past twelve years at CMHS and this will be my fifth season as the Head Sophomore Baseball Coach at CMHS.
I received my undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University, in Business Administration. I earned my Masters in Education, from Quincy University in 2014. I always knew I would end up in education, I just did not realize it would be so quick. I was only in the business field for six months. When I had the opportunity to get in the classroom, I knew I was right where I belonged. I started out as a teacher’s assistant, before transitioning into teaching. After thirteen years in education, I still enjoy what I do on a daily basis.
My goal as an instructor is to ensure that all students reach their full potential. Not all students are exactly the same, but all have the potential to do great things, both in the present and in the future, in the classroom and outside in the real world. This potential refers to academic achievement, personal and social success, and equipping them with tools they will use outside the classroom. I believe reaching their full potential begins with their aspiration to perform to the best of their ability, but if their aspiration is lacking or their vision becomes cloudy I need to intervene with clarity and motivations to help them keep sight of what they can become.
I am very excited for the new school year at MEC and look forward to working with you and your child. I have high goals for all of my students. Every year comes with its new challenges, and I look forward to working through every hill and valley in our journey together in education. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything at all, as I will be in contact with you.
