Welcome Letter from Mrs. Huff, School Social Worker
I am beyond excited to introduce myself as the School Social Worker at Monee Elementary School. I bring with me 13 years of experience, including 7 years as part of the District 201U team. I am thrilled to be joining the Monee Elementary family this school year and am already feeling proud to be a Mustang!
Prior to becoming a School Social Worker, I started my career path working in the fields of special recreation and human services while attending the University of Illinois. I graduated twice from the U of I, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I continued my professional development by becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and earning a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration most recently. On a personal note, I live with my husband, two children, and two dogs in the south suburbs. I am a diehard sports fan, spending much of my time cheering on my favorite teams—the Fighting Illini and the Chicago White Sox.
This school year I look forward to working with you and your child so he/she may achieve not only academic success, but positive, social and emotional growth as well. As a School Social Worker, I provide support in addressing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges that adversely impact students’ functioning in the school setting. My primary responsibilities are to effectively respond to crisis situations and to provide the social work services mandated by the Individualized Educational Plans of students receiving Special Education. Other roles include connecting families with community resources and services, consulting with staff, students and parents, providing classroom interventions and prevention, skills-based group work with students, and short-term individual counseling with students.
If you have any questions regarding the social work services being provided to your child, or have any concerns for your child, please feel free to contact me at (708) 367-2621 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
