Welcome Letter from Mrs. Benton

Dear Parents,

I am very happy to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Melissa Benton, I received my Bachelors Degree from Trinity Christian College in 2009.  This is my sixth year teaching special education.   Prior to teaching I was an accountant  and I felt a time for a career change.  Changing careers to a teacher has been the most rewarding experience ever!  I truly enjoy going to work every day to teach, help, and support every student in my classroom!

I look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure that your child can achieve their highest potential.  I recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school.  I know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child's education.  As partners, we share the responsibility for our children's success and I would like for you to know that I will do my very best to carry out my responsibilities.  I ask that you guide and support your child's learning by ensuring that he/she attends school daily, completes homework assignments, reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills, shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of their school life, and informs you if he/she needs additional support in any subject area.

Our classroom environment is structured by a variety of hands on learning activities, games, and learning centers.  I strongly believe in making learning as fun as possible to help keep the students motivated and eager to learn!

Communication is essential and I will send home weekly newsletters about what we are doing in school.  Students will have a behavioral sheet on their desks and mark them daily.  I will send them home on Friday for you to see how your child does throughout the week.  Please feel free to contact me through a note, by email, or call me at work and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  I welcome your thoughts and I am looking forward to working together to make this a successful year!

Sincerely,

Melissa Benton
