Hello, I am Denise Ostarello. I am a Special Education Teacher at Crete Elementary. I started with our district in 1993 and have taught a primary cross categorical classroom, which has ranged in grades from 1st-3rd. I am very fortunate to work with amazing children, supportive parents and a dedicated administrative and educational team.
I received my Bachelors Degree from the University of St. Francis and my Masters Degree from Western Illinois University. In addition to my educator’s license, I am also a licensed speech and language pathologist. My additional endorsements are in the areas of: Reading Specialist and Learning Behavior Specialist.
In our classroom our mission statement reads: Everyone learns in their own way to be the best that they can be. I take, very seriously, my responsibility to enhance the skills and meet the needs of every student in my classroom.
In 2012 I was very flattered to be nominated by one of my students and her family for the Golden Apple Award. I was then, fortunate to become one of the 10 recipients of that award and even more honored to represent my district during the 2012-13 school year.
I reside in Homewood, with my husband of 41 years, Victor and my golden retriever Buddy. My daughter Jenny lives in Colorado with her husband Josh and their son Tyler. In my spare time I visit Colorado frequently to spend time with my Grandson.
Children are our future. Whether they are our own or entrusted to our care, we should inspire, guide, nurture and celebrate their successes.
