¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
Welcome to Spanish Class!
¡Hola! My name is Señora Ruiz and I teach Spanish at Crete-Monee High School. All of my classes meet in room A103.
Spanish has always been my favorite subject, ever since I started taking it in 6th grade. I continued my studies throughout high school and college, where I majored in the Teaching of Spanish at the University of Illinois in Champaign – Urbana. While there, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Granada, Spain – twice! I completed my Master’s Degree in Spanish through Middlebury College in Vermont, and was able to spend three summers in Guadalajara, Mexico working on this degree.
The study of language includes four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. All skills are of equal importance and are necessary for the mastery of the language. Students in all levels will complete a variety of activities that address these skills, and will use them while learning new vocabulary and grammar.
I enjoy helping students explore the challenge of speaking a language that is becoming increasingly important in our world. With this skill, they will be better prepared to succeed in today’s global society.
