District 201-U welcomes new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources The District 201-U family welcomes new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Dr. Anthony Edison. He will replace long time administrator, Jean Wildermuth, who is retiring after 39 years with the district. Dr. Edison will be housed in the District Administration Center and will be responsible for promoting the Human Resource department's vision in alignment with the district's goals and mission. He will also serve as an integral member of the superintendent's cabinet.
Dr. Edison comes to the Crete-Monee School District with many years of experience in providing leadership while implementing and maintaining Human Resources services. For the past 11 years, he has worked with Bremen School District in Midlothian, Illinois as the District Curriculum Supervisor before being promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and Student Services. Dr. Edison attended Western Illinois University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. He went on to pursue two Masters Degrees from Governors State University in Music Education and in Educational Administration. He later attended Loyola University and received his Doctoral Degree in Administration/Supervision. "My philosophy as an educator is to maintain a very 'student-centered' mentality. It is important to remain focused on the students. A good teacher can make anything happen," believes Dr. Edison. "I am very excited to be a part of this district and have the opportunity to meet the District 201-U family," he adds. Dr. Edison will join the team on July 1st. Welcome aboard!
It was a beautiful ceremony filled with tear- jerking moments as Senior Thomas Vizzard addressed the audience about his experiences teaching a tolerance class at MEC. Reminding us all ” we are all one race, the human race." We should open ourselves to love each other and respect and accept each other the way we are. Afterward Senior President Calvin Willis honored the Associate Superintendent Jean Wildermuth with a bouquet of flowers thanking her on behalf of MEC for developing the CAP program and for her continued support and contribution to the program throughout the years. Mrs. Wildermuth is due to retire this year. She will be missed dearly by all of us here at MEC. Again both Calvin and the audience were brought to tears, as he then honored the principal with a bouquet of flowers. He gave a heart felt speech about how "she was more than just a principal!"
Their friendship has meant so much to all of us. Together we have shared some great and memorable experiences. It has been a wonderful year for us all. We will surely miss all of their smiling faces. We hope to spend good times together again this coming school year.
All students who had earned bonus bucks now had the opportunity to place bids on many wonderful items. A breakfast buffet was provided to all those students in attendance. Students worked hard all year long to earn bonus bucks. Bonus bucks were rewarded to students based on safety, respect, responsibility, and learning. It was a wonderful feeling to watch the students reap the rewards of the PBIS program. MEC would like to thank the following local organizations for their generous contributions which helped make our auction possible: Star Flyer Roller Rink, Cone Cottage, Sicilian Joes, Little Cesar's Pizza, Wal-Mart, Pilot gas station, A&E Entertainment, Chicago Dough Pizza Company, Burger King, McDonald's, and Walts
On behalf of the MEC Student Government we would like to thank you for all you do for us and the student body. To show our appreciation we would like to present this gift to you as a token of our gratitude for all you do. Thank you Mrs. Carpenter! It has been a wonderful school year. You’re the best!
Come meet your teacher and other staff members on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 5:00-7:00PM.
